Taking the same view of the Opera House as in her ‘Near’ painting Anna pulls back her focus for a cooler view of the building. The colours shift from orange to yellow hue as she does the most difficult of tasks, to show a landscape inside a portrait-sized window. She uses the golden mean size to draw us in, but also gives us distance to witness the energy of the building as an object in its own right. The Opera House’s form is the focus of this work. We see the glory of this iconic building shining forth on its own terms.
